Busy Saturday...

The girls and I had a busy, but fun day today.

For lunch, we headed to Paul's work to take advantage of free hot dogs that were being served at his open house. We consumed a quick lunch, said hi to Daddy, the girls watched a short bit of 'Little People' (in the play house daddy so kindly put in his showroom) and we headed for Grand Haven.

Next up was a birthday party for Regan's classmate, Aiden. They met at the Grand Haven 9 for cake and presents and to watch Igor. I showed Regan a preview of the movie earlier in the week and she decided she didn't care to go to it, but wanted to at least go to the party. 10 boys and Regan (& sage) and a much too small party room made for an interesting time! Let's just say I have a new compassion for Regan's teacher!!

After the party we headed to the Open House for the new Fitness & Aquatic Center at Spring Lake HS. It is a beautiful facility!! We only spent about 30 minutes in the pool. There were so many people there (it was free today) and it was so loud I couldn't hardly converse with Regan. (Paul and I will probably return for a guided tour before deciding to join or not.)

We returned home about 4:15 to find daddy had returned from the open house. The girls were both hungry, so we settled for a wholesome dinner of cold cereal. I know, not the best of meals, but we did really enjoy a dinner without having to repeatedly say 'can you please eat!'...this was just what the doctor ordered after a long day for both Paul and I.

Paul and the girls finished their day playing/working outside, while I took advantage of some time to myself. A quick snack, PJ's on, teeth brushed, bedtime devotions and that was the last we heard of either of the girls. I think we tired them out today!! (on a typical night, it will take Sage about 2 hours to fall asleep!)

The end of summer...the beginning of lots of things!



It's September already...the official end of summer, I guess. We finished the season off with our one and only camping trip of the year. We spent to holiday weekend at Center Lake Bible Camp with about 6 other families from our church.

Camping with two young kids always seems like a lot of preparation, but we did have a really good time at camp. It is a great place for families and there is lots to do. Swimming, playground, kayaking, horse back riding, skeet shooting, lots of eating, chapel service, game time, volleyball....we packed a lot into a four day weekend.

The day after returning home began our adventures in having a school age kid. I took Regan on Tuesday for a meet and greet scavenger hunt. She got to go inside a school bus, meet her teacher and get to know her classroom. Wednesday was the first official day of school, complete with bus rides to and fro.

Regan absolutely loves going to school. On Thursday morning, all I heard for 4 hours was...'is it time for school yet?'. I know these days of excitement about school won't last forever, but I will enjoy them while they do.

Tonight, my home is filled with the aroma of what has become a fall tradition in our house....TORTELLINI SOUP!! YUM! The 18 quart roaster is filled to the brim with the first half of a batch that lasts us through most of the winter. Regan has been asking for this for about 2 months!
