Labor Day Weekend...

Could we have asked for a better Labor Day weekend?? It was beautiful and we had a great time. We pulled our camper out of storage for the first time this year and headed up to Center Lake Bible Camp for the weekend.

After the dreaded two days of packing, we headed north on Friday, after Paul got out of work. The trip went well, except for one construction delay. We learned our lesson in following directions when they warn you to seek alternative routes!!

We planned to camp with one, possibly two, other families from our church. When we arrived, we found out there would be 5 families. That was great news! It's always more fun to camp with a group. We were able to have our own section, right near the playground. That was convenient for us!! We all set our campers up in a U shape around a central fire pit, and had our own little community for the weekend.

The first night was a little rough, with Sage awake from about 3:30 - 5:30. After finally getting her back to sleep, we were able to get a little more rest, until about 8:00 a.m. The next two nights went much better! I think we wore the girls out enough to sleep the night through. Shortage of naps also helped the night-time sleeping!

The weekend was packed with fun things to do. The camp has swimming, kayaks, canoes, hay-rides, playground, skeet-shooting, chapel on Sunday, just to name the things we did. There were lots of other activities that we missed, but maybe when the kids get older we will be able to participate.

Our group had 8 kids besides ours, ages 7-16. They were a great group of kids! They made the most of their weekend, staying up late, meeting other kids at the camp, playing games, horseback riding, etc.

The families that were there were such a joy to be around. Three of the families do things together quite a bit. Their 'love' for each other was very entertaining for the weekend! They pretty much act like family, picking on each other most of the time, but in a loving way!

It was a great time for us, and very nice to spend a few days together as a family. We did lots of tag-team parenting because of naps, but it was still fun to be together.

(I don't have any pictures to share. I blew my back out Friday night and was avoiding any extra activity!)
